A book basket party is a fun twist on the traditional favorite things!
A book basket party is similar to a favorite things party, but instead of bringing your favorite items, you bring a favorite book and a basket filled with items related to that book.
Jenna Killpack recently threw a book basket party with her friends, and she gave us the rundown.
Planning the Party
Here’s how to plan a successful book basket party:
- Invite Guests: “My friend and co-host Holly made a fun invitation, and we sent it out and just encouraged people to invite their friends,” Jenna said.
- Set a Budget: Decide on a budget for the baskets. Jenna said, “We set it around $25. I feel like some people spent a little more, a little less.”
- Choose a Venue: We did throw it in my backyard, but we’ve seen other ones just in homes,” Jenna explained.
Creating the Baskets
Each guest should bring a basket filled with items related to their chosen book. For example, Jenna shared, “My book starts out in San Francisco. So, I put in Ghirardelli Squares”
The Exchange Process
The book exchange can be done white elephant style, where guests draw numbers to pick baskets and have the option to steal from others.
The party was a hit. Jenna shared, “We had a lot of really good feedback, people asking us to do it again. We had such a good time. We want to do it again.”
