Flu Season/Furnace Season

Owner Tony Oakman from Lee’s Heating and Air tells us how you can protect your home from flu viruses like the H1N1 (swine flu) and other forms of influenza that are spread through the air—and at the same time drastically reduce dust and other indoor air pollution.

H1 N1 has been all over the news and everyone is talking about the increased risk for H1N1 during this year’s flu season. In the 80 years that Lee’s has been in business, there is only one particular air cleaner that performs better in not only killing viruses but also removing dust and allergens from the air.

American Standard has spent years testing for a system that is superior in removing both viruses and allergens from re-circulated air. The result is a super cleaner called the AccuClean. Studies show the AccuClean system removes more than 99 percent of influenza A viruses, including H1N1, from the filtered air in your home proving to be a very effective defense against the spread of flu viruses. It also removes 99.98 percent of allergens, including dust, mold and pollen – plus, it doesn’t require any of the expensive replacement cartridges that other systems need.

Here is how it works. Air is passed through several stages of filtration, the first of which is a pre-filter that collects large particles to protect your equipment. Contaminated air particles are then charged so they are attracted to the oppositely charged collection cells. I have an AccuClean system in my home, and this device’s ability to reduce the average airborne concentration of viruses in re-circulated air makes it a very effective flu defense. In fact, Tony’s son came down with H1N1 this year, and no one else in the home got it. An added bonus since he installed the system in his home is that dust has practically disappeared from furniture and even blinds.

The AccuClean systems are available at Lee’s Heating and Air, and in most cases they can add it to an existing heating and air conditioning system at a cost of under $1,500. Plus, the AccuClean system eliminates the need to purchase air filters, since all the filters in the AccuClean system are washable. But Lee’s will go one step further and offer $300 off an installed American Standard AccuClean system to the first 20 Studio 5 viewers who call 801-747-LEES.

Lee’s is also partnering with American Standard to offer a Cash for Clunkers promotion….not for cars, but for those old energy sucking furnace and AC units! You could save up to $2,100 if you purchase a new unit. Lee’s will take $500 off a new AC or furnace unit in exchange for your old clunker. Then you may be eligible for a $300 rebate from American Standard, a $300 rebate from Questar and up to $1,000 in tax credit. This is not a gimmick, and Lee’s will be happy to explain it in more detail when they visit you. In addition to all these credits and rebates, think of all the money you will save in energy bills just by replacing your old clunker!
