Gourmet Grilled Cheese Sandwiches


Softened butter
Artisan bread such as Pugliese, sliced ½ – ¾ inch thick


Fancy Grilled Cheese Sandwiches:

– Brie, Green Apple, and Honey Mustard

Brie (thinly sliced)

Green Apple (thinly sliced)

Honey Mustard

-Smoked Mozzarella, Sun-Dried Tomato and Portabella Mushroom

Smoked Mozzarella (grated),

Sun-Dried Tomatoes (julienne style and packed in olive oil),

Grilled Portabella Mushrooms (thinly sliced and lightly grilled)

-Mozzarella, Tomato and Pesto

Fresh Mozzarella (sliced)

Fresh Roma Tomato (sliced)

Basil Pesto

Simple Grilled Cheese Sandwiches:

Specialty cheeses, shredded:

-Pesto Jack cheese

-Italian Red Pepper Caciotta cheese

-Chipotle Jack cheese

Butter one side of each slice of bread. Set one slice on hot grill, butter side down.

Pile cheese on the grilling slice of bread, and, if making a fancy sandwich, add fruit or vegetable ingredient; (mushroom, apple, etc.)

Spread condiment ( pesto, mustard etc.) on remaining slice of bread.

Place this second slice on grilling sandwich, butter side up.

When bread is golden brown, flip to other side and finish grilling.
