Conversation Canvas
With this piece of art, you (or your kids) are the artist. Simply start with your personal message, and add a canvas and some paint to make it a piece of art!
You will need:
Gallery wrapped canvas
Acrylic paints
Brushes
Vinyl lettering or letter stickers to spell out message
Clear finishing spray
Possible messages: “To the moon and back,” “With all our hearts,” “Family, God’s masterpiece”
All supplies can be purchased at a local craft store. Use a thicker paint to help minimize running under the letters. You can cover your surface with plastic or newspaper. Arrange your letters on the canvas making sure they are pressed on securely. Turn on some quiet Christmas music and paint away. Kids just painting back and forth in long strokes can give a surprisingly chic and modern look to your canvas. You can smooth things out after they have finished. Let the paint dry and remove the vinyl/stickers to reveal your message. You may need to touch up letters with white paint. You can also use a clear finishing spray after the paint has dried so that paint from the canvas won’t rub off onto a wall.
