Jennifer Stagg has our list of Northern Utah’s Hippest Hotspots.
Our first stop was a new eatery with a modern feel. The Blue Lemon is a fresh and fun take on gourmet dishes– with a little less fuss and a lot lower price. The atmosphere is modern, and the menu offers a few items your kids will love. With a price point of five to thirteen dollars an entree, Blue Lemon is our pick for easy and affordable big city style cuisine.

Our next stop was a salon you could easily find in Manhattan or LA, but Shep Studio is planted in the middle of Utah County. It has two levels of bright lights and beautiful blow-outs. Owner Shep Wolsey makes sure every client has a world-class experience. While stylists gently scrub your scalp, a massage chair works on your back– as you watch the screens on the ceiling. When the staff is hired, Shep then personally spends six months training them– to make sure they meet the salon’s high standards. The result? The perfect cut, color, or treatment.
Rather than heading to a major city for a great haircut– Shep has clients travel from across the country to him. And that’s what makes Shep Studio our selection for one of Utah’s top salons.

Next up, a world-class hotel just minutes away. The name Waldorf Astoria conjures up visions of one of the Big Apple’s finest hotels. But why not trade in the crowds and cabs for a mountain escape– just 30 minutes from Salt Lake. Park City has the third Waldorf– featuring luxurious suites, complete with full kitchens. They have a world-class restaurant—Spruce, and a spa that encourages you to leave all of your troubles at the door.
With locals only specials and a commute time that can’t be beat, we think the Waldorf Astoria Park City is one of the Utah’s most desired destinations.

New York and DC have cooked up plenty of cupcake shops– but we doubt many of them have as much heart as So Cupcake. 11-year-old Celina Jensen’s parents quit their day jobs and opened the Salt Lake sweet spot at their daughter’s promptings. She loves the cooking channel, and serves as So Cupcake’s official taster. They have 60 different flavors, but Celina certainly has her favorites. Her mom, Natalie, says whether you want a little treat or a special order, So Cupcake is so for you. So… for baking up a goodie with a lot of good will, So Cupcake had us at Celina’s hello.

Crews downtown are hard at work on something we can’t wait to open for business—City Creek Center. There are plenty of rumors about what stores they have in store.
Designer shops that will make you feel like you’re walking down Rodeo Drive.
So, even though it’s not finished quite yet… we thought City Creek deserved a place on our list.
