June is National Homeownership Month so we want to tell the community about the great services we offer at Community Development Corporation of Utah to promote affordable and sustainable homeownership. We are in a very interesting housing market right now. We are unfortunately seeing many people lose their homes, while seeing many others taking advantage of the lower prices and buying their first home.
At CDC we offer services for both of these situations:
• We build, rehab, and sell homes in conjunction with HUD and our great partner, Salt Lake County.
• We also administer Down Payment Assistance programs for many cities in Salt Lake County that can help people cover some of the costs of buying their first home.
• We provide Home Buyer Education classes for first time homebuyers to help them avoid common home buying & money management mistakes so they can be long-term, successful homeowners!
• We also offer foreclosure prevention education and counseling services for homeowners that are having a hard time making their mortgage payments and are at risk of losing their homes.
We strongly encourage anyone thinking about buying a home or struggling with their mortgage payments to get educated about the process, options, and programs available to help! Community Development Corporation of
Utah is a HUD-approved non-profit housing agency. Our main office is located in Salt Lake, and we are very happy to announce that we recently opened an office in Price, our counselor there is traveling around all of Eastern Utah providing these classes and counseling.
We also have an event coming up featuring a home that we remodeled in conjunction with Salt Lake County. We will be having an open house on June 12th from 10am-2pm at our Idea House in Kearns. Come and learn more about all of CDC’s programs as well as how to make your home energy & water efficient. There will be food, music, a bounce house, and lots of information.
