Party Favors With Flair

Kelly White, General manager for Heartland Paper, has created some adorable party favor boxes for your next big event.


Having a party? Here are some fun and easy ideas for making your guests feel welcome at your event. Remember, ideas can be changed to fit any type of party (baby, wedding, homecoming, etc.)…just switch up the paper and charms to fit your theme.

Taffy Kabobs to Go (Perfect for a Large Open House Shower)

Ingredients you’ll need:

-Skewers

-Taffy in colors to fit your theme (you can buy this in bulk from most grocery stores)

-Ribbon (available at Heartland $1.99)

-Charms (available at Heartland $1.99)

-Floral foam for bottom of container

-Container (we used a Paper Mache bag decorated with patterned papers and diecuts)

Instructions:

1. Slide 6 pieces of taffy onto each skewer, alternating colors as desired. If skewer seems unstable or flimsy, slide a second skewer up through bottom of taffy.

2. Tie a ribbon with a charm to fit your theme at the bottom of each taffy kabob.

3. Decorate your container as desired. Place floral foam in bottom of container. Stick kabobs into container.

4. Leave container by the door so guests can grab a treat as they exit.

Pretty Little Garden (Perfect for a sit-down ladies luncheon)

Ingredients you’ll need:

-Clear Acetate (available at Heartland $1.99)

-Sweets in colors to fit your theme

-Ribbon (available at Heartland)

-2 different patterned papers for box and flower(available at Heartland $0.60-1.50)

-Wire and floral tape for flower stem

-Test tubes(available at Heartland)

-die cut grass(available at Heartland)

-Box die-cut (available at Heartland for free use)

Instructions:

1. Die-cut acetate using bag die-cut. Fold and glue with clear adhesive to form box.

2. Die-cut grass and wrap around top of box.

3. Cut 1″ strip of patterned paper and glue beneath grass.

4. Add ribbon between grass and patterned paper.

5. Fill box with treats and stick in test tube.

6. Make paper flower as shown on accompanying file.

7. Place paper flower in test tube and set completed box at each place setting.

Pretty little boxes (Perfect for a small open house shower)

Ingredients you’ll need:

-Patterned Paper (one for each box)

-Ribbon in coordinating shades

-Tag

-Border Punch

-Scor-Pal or other scoring tool

-Paper Trimmer

Instructions:

1. Using your own patterned paper and scor-pal tool- follow the instructions for the bon-bon box in the attached document, or visit
www.scor-pal.com/feb2_magazine/index_files/Page405.htm to access the box pattern.

2. When you have completed the box basics, use a decorate border punch to make a fun design along the top of the box.

3. Create your own tag (that matches with your shower theme) and attach it to the front of your box.

4. Arrange favors neatly on a tray and leave them for guests to enjoy.

Window Boxes (Perfect for a sit down dinner or luncheon)

Ingredients you’ll need:

-cardstock paper for base

-Sizzix Big shot die-cutting machine or other box die-cutter

-clear acetate for window

-Tulle or ribbon

-Decorate elements (we used dies from QuicKutz to create a monogram look)

Instructions:

1. Using peek-a-boo die cut and Big Shot machine, cut boxes from patterned papers.

2. Cut acetate to fit window of box. Glue to appropriate edges.

3. Glue and put together box.

4. Add ribbon or tulle and decorative elements as desired to make the box fit your theme.

This box fits really well for a wedding luncheon.
