6 ounces Italian sausage, ground
¼ onion, finely chopped
¼ cup heavy whipping cream
1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped
1 teaspoon fresh parsley, chopped
½ cup your favorite red sauce
1 pound pasta, cooked
½ cup fresh Parmesan, grated
1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
pinch of chile flakes
1 teaspoon fresh oregano, chopped
In sauté pan over medium heat, cook the sausage and onions for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and drain. Add the cream, basil, and parsley and cook for approximately 2 minutes, until the liquid is reduced by 30%. Add the red sauce, cooked pasta, and grated Parmesan. Toss together and cook for 45 seconds. Spoon the mixture into an oven-proof baking dish.
Mix together the shredded mozzarella, chile flakes, and oregano and sprinkle over the top of the mixture in the baking dish. Place under the broiler just until golden brown.
