Pizza Rolls

An easy, mini, homemade pizza roll beats any frozen appetizer snack
you can buy. And it’s perfect to serve for a March Madness game
night!

Becky Low shares her recipe for a pizza roll “snack-a-tizer.”

1 loaf frozen bread dough *

¾ cup pizza or spaghetti sauce**

1- 1 ½ cups pizza toppings of your choice***

1 ½ cups shredded Mozzarella cheese

garlic powder and/or Italian seasoning, optional

¼ cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Thaw dough to room temperature according to package directions. Spray clean counter
with non-stick spray, roll dough into a12x16 rectangle; spread with pizza or spaghetti
sauce; sprinkle with optional garlic powder and /or Italian seasoning to taste; arrange
toppings and Mozzarella cheese over top. Starting on long side, roll toppings into dough
like a cinnamon roll; seal edge. Using a sharp knife, cut into 12 slices. Place slices on a
baking sheet sprayed with non-stick spray or lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle rolls
with Parmesan cheese. Cover and allow to rise until almost double in bulk (30-60
minutes depending on the warmth of your kitchen).

While rolls are rising, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Remove wrap and bake Pizza Rolls
20-25 minutes.

Notes:

* Use frozen bread dough, refrigerated pizza dough, or purchase take-and-bake pizza
dough.

** Pizza Sauce Substitute: combine ¾-cup tomato sauce, ½-1-teaspoon Italian
seasoning, ⅛-teaspoon garlic powder, ½-teaspoon sugar.

*** Pizza Topping Ideas: (NOTE: Pizza rolls up easier, and filling more more evenly
distributed when toppings are chopped or thinly sliced) Use a combination of the
following toppings to equal approximately 1 o 1 ½-cups. Sliced black olives, cooked
crumbled sausage, chopped sliced Canadian bacon, sliced pepperoni, pineapple tidbits
well drained, chopped bell peppers or hot chilies, chopped red onion, pulled barbecued
pork, diced fresh tomato (well drained), cooked grilled diced chicken, caramelized
onions, and/or other favorite toppings of choice.

Buffalo Wing Variation: Try substituting buffalo wing sauce for the pizza sauce; reduce
Mozzarella cheese to ⅔-cup and add ½-cup crumbled blue cheese; use chopped cooked
chicken. Serve with celery and ranch dressing.
