Simple Lasagna

1 pound ground beef
½ pound sweet Italian sausage, optional
1 onion, chopped
1 ½ tablespoon dried Italian seasoning
3 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 5oz package ricotta cheese
1 egg
1 32oz jar spaghetti sauce or canned tomato sauce
1 6oz package lasagna noodles
½ cup shredded parmesan cheese

In large skillet, brown meats with onion and seasoning. In bowl, blend mozzarella, ricotta and egg. Spread a small amount of sauce in the bottom of a 13×9 inch baking dish. Arrange one layer uncooked lasagna noodles over sauce. Layer with meat, then cheese mixture, sauce, Parmesan cheese and again with noodles. Continue this pattern. Top layer should end with sauce and Parmesan cheese. Cover with foil. Place in 350 degree oven and bake for 35 minutes. Remove foil and continue to bake 10 minutes more. Let stand 5-10 minutes before serving. Serves 6-8.
