Sauce
1 lb hot Italian sausage
1 cup chopped red peppers
3 cloves garlic
1 pinch crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 cup fresh basil (chopped)
1/4 cup olive oil
juice of 1/2 lemon
1 12 oz. can crushed or chopped tomatoes
2 lbs. steamed black mussels
salt and pepper to taste
1/4 cup red wine
1 lb. linguine
Saute sausage and garlic in olive oil, add basil, red peppers and tomatoes, bring to a boil. Add red pepper flakes, red wine and lemon juice. Simmer. Add mussels. Pour over linguine, top with pecorino cheese.
