Spread the Love

Studio 5 Contributor Susan Neal is here with ways to share the season with those you love.

Spread the Love: Your Friends

• Some funny valentine cards & Gifts for the un-attached, single gals out there.

Spread the Love: Your Children

• What a great opportunity to share how you feel about your children with a special valentine’s dinner just for them (the parents serve). You can set up a fun tablescape with place settings, chair décor, gifts, etc. I started this tradition in our home 8 years ago and wow, it’s a huge hit with my kids, even though half of them are grown. They just love being fussed over. I have a picture of the first dinner I did and thought it could be fun to show it (now I’ve got to FIND it!)

Spread the Love: People in Need

• This is also a great time to think about people you know, maybe not even very well, that need a friend. Maybe it’s a recent widow, or a new single mom, someone new that has moved into the neighborhood, just someone who would appreciate even the smallest token of friendship. This is where preparation comes in. I love to (a good week or two in advance) prepare little goodies (I’ve done a simple gift bag & tag with those amazing sugar cookies you taught last week) that are just ready for me or my family members to grab and deliver when we’ve thought of someone in need. I love this quote by Camilla Kimball “never suppress a generous thought”. This is much easier to do when you’re prepared with a little something, something to bring along.
