Here’s the itinerary for the Southwest Color Country getaway:
* SLC to St. George via I-15
* St. George to Zion National Park through Hurricane and Springdale
* Zion to Bryce Canyon through Mt. Carmel north on 89 to 12 east
* Bryce Canyon to SLC (Highway 12 west to 89 north)
* Stay on 89 through Sanpete County to Highway 6 at Thistle
* Take 6 to I-15
Along the way stop and visit these places:
*Historic Cove Fort – located off I-15 near the I-15/I-70 junction
*Parowan Gap – located 20 miles west of Parowan (Indian petroglyphs)
*Red Cliffs recreation area near Leeds & Silver Reef
*Snow Canyon State Park – near Ivins
*Grafton – ghost town near Rockville before Springdale (Zion NP)
*Red Canyon – highway 12 on the way to Bryce
*Big Rock Candy Mountain – just north of Marysvale on 89
*Butch Cassidy Cabin – just south of Circleville
*Freemont Indian Museum – on I-70 just west of highway 89 before Richfield
*Heritage Highway 89 – runs through Sanpete County (Manti, Ephraim, Spring City, Mt. Pleasant, Fairview)
*Thistle – remnants of the town flooded by landslide
