The Art Of Fakery: How To Make Anything Look Antique

No one loves turning old, forgotten stuff into cool new treasures like Studio 5
Contributor Jennifer Helsop. But if scouring through junk yards and thrift
stores isn’t your thing, you can fake the look on just about anything!

Studio 5’s Trash to Treasure Diva, Jennifer Heslop shares her secret tool to
get that old, antiqued look.

My secret tool? Old Master Gel Stain! This is a highly pigmented oil-based
stain. I have used it to stain wood, metal, plastic and even frosted glass. It is
ideal for giving pieces an aged patina.

· Make sure surface is clean and dry. Apply stain with a bristle or foam
brush and dab off excess with a soft cloth, or apply stain to surface using a
soft cloth and gently dab on stain. Allow each coat to dry thoroughly before
adding additional coats or colors.

· Old Masters Gel Stain can be purchased at Kwal Howells Paint Stores

· I took you through a tour of my friend’s home, where I get so much of
my crafting inspiration.
