The Classy Bow

Some are calling it the number one accessory detail of Spring 2013. Bows are big this season – but you don’t want to look like a four-year-old when you wear them.

Fashion blogger Stephanie Abbott with “The Salt Blog” explains how to work bows into your wardrobe in a way that is both trendy and classy.

The Tie-Neck Blouse

This tie-neck bow blouse is a classic way to incorporate the bow trend into your wardrobe. The style is appropriate for any age, so whether you’re a trendy teen or a maturing fashionista, this look is for you! You might think the tie-neck would be a bit formal, but we like to dress it down with a pair of boyfriend jeans, cardigan, and with your hair in a top bun. Show off that bow! It will be the feminine detail you will love! This look is a step up from t-shirt and jeans, but casual enough for carpooling kids and running errands.

Bow Coat

Bows are a stylish upgrade from your classic dress coat. It’s ladylike, playful and sweet! When shopping for this trend, look for a feminine silhouette with a peplum or A-line cut. Need a quick, easy way to incorporate this trend in your outerwear? Wrap a thick, bow belt around your favorite dress coat! And there you have it!

The Skinny Bow

This is the accessory to buy! We love to wear this with jeans, and layer it over shirts, sweaters, and dresses. There are no hard and fast rules for the bow belt. It’s the easiest way to pull off the trend. When you’re a regular bust size and carrying a little extra around the middle, position your belt just above the waist line. That’s your sweet spot! When you’re short-waisted and well endowed, belt at or below your waistline. If you’re long-waisted, wear a belt high on your natural waist.

The Bow Pattern

Go high impact with a bold pattern! Think of this as an alternative to polka dot. You can go big for a bold look, or tone it down with a small pattern. This eye-catching detail is sure to get noticed! One of our favorite ways to style is under a dress or sweater.

The Statement Bow

Small details can make your look, so don’t underestimate what a little bit of bow can do. Work bows into your look as standout, eye-catching accessories. No matter the girl, no matter the budget, there is an accessory for you! You don’t want your accessories to appear cheap or little girlish, so look for a structured bow in a classy color. Metallic, pastels, and neutrals keep it chic and not cheap!
