3 Transformations That Will Make the Church Gym Your Dream Wedding Venue

Your wedding venue doesn’t have to be pricey!

Church receptions are making a comeback. These spaces offer guests great amenities like parking, restrooms, and they’re a local and convenient place for guests to meet.

Aria Taylor is a full-service event planner. She does it all from wedding decor and set up even over-the-top soda bars. She shared a few of her secrets to transform the church gym into something magical.

The Budget-Friendly Venue with Built-In Perks

Aria confirmed what many couples are discovering: church receptions are trending again. “A lot of couples are finding that their budgets are a bit tighter than normal,” she explained. Church buildings have amenities like parking, restrooms, and they’re local and convenient. These built-in amenities make them an easy alternative to pricey venues.

The Wow Factor Starts with the Ceiling

One of the most striking elements of Aria’s transformations is the ceiling. “That transformation is something that we specialize at Event Dreamer,” she said.

Instead of using fishing line, Aria uses a more durable and polished solution: “We use this vinyl-wrapped stainless steel cord, so it’s going to be really sturdy,” she explained. The result is a stunning canopy of fabric drapes that’s fast to install and looks really good in photos.

Dressing Up the Basics

When it comes to elevating standard church tables and chairs, Aria’s go-to solution is simple: “Fabric is the key to giving that elegant look.” By covering metal chairs and plain tables, the space becomes elegant, helping guests forget they’re in a gym.

Add a Focal Point: Custom Soda Bars

To draw the eye and add personality, Aria recommended creating a focal point like a soda or mocktail bar. “We love doing that with our Drink It In soda and mocktail bars,” she said. These stations often have custom menus, the couple’s favorite drinks, and even edible glitter. It’s a playful and polished touch that makes the event memorable.
