making eyes pop. The Deseret News Fall Home Show is a great place to see
some of the trends.

Cookbook author, Wendy Paul shares some of her favorite new products
trends that she spotted from Macy’s.

For over 30 years, the Deseret News Home Show has established itself as
being one of Utah’s most reliable resources for home improvement and
design inspiration. This year’s Fall show will certainly live up to that
expectation. Home Show-goers will have the opportunity to gather expert
advice in home construction and renovation, design elements, landscaping,
cooking and much more from one of 300 participating companies at the
show. In addition to the many exhibitors, the Home Show welcomes a group
of well-known celebrity guests to share tips, teach hands-on demonstrations
and answer questions during seminars throughout the weekend. With the
Home Show as their guide, Utah homeowners can fall in love with their
homes again!

Special Guest Speakers on the IKEA Design Stage presented by Xfinity

John Gidding, architect, designer and host of HGTV’s hit shows Curb Appeal:
The Block and Designed to Sell, will hold an open discussion to answer
questions about his shows and offer exterior and interior design tips to
improve the overall value of one’s home. Gidding will appear on Saturday,
October 8 at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 9 at 1:00 p.m.
and 3:00 p.m.

Bryan Baeumler, contractor and host of Disaster DIY and House of Bryan on
HGTV, will share advice on easy do-it-yourself projects any homeowner can
master, reveal behind-the-scenes secrets about his shows and answer
questions from the audience. Baeumler will appear on Friday, October 7 at
7:00 p.m.

Joy Bossi, host of Joy in the Garden on KNRS Radio, will teach the audience
how to spruce up a garden and prepare for Fall planting on Friday, October 7
at 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 8 at 2:00 p.m. and 5:00
p.m.

Ken Rosebery, Utah’s own money-saving expert and Grocery Guru, will help
seminar attendees get maximum savings on the next grocery bill by using
some basic shopping secrets. Meet the Grocery Guru on Saturday, October 8
at 8:00 p.m.

Therm, everyone’s favorite energy wise guy, will be on hand to draw the lucky
winner of an ENERGY STAR washer and dryer set on Saturday, October 8.
Visitors to the ENERGY STAR Center booth will learn energy savings tips and
more, simply from dropping by.

Cooking Highlights

Cooking demonstrations have become an exciting part of the Home Show,
especially with a line-up featuring some familiar faces in the culinary world.
Home show attendees can expect to learn easy methods for meal
preparation, how to shop on a budget and tasty recipes for those chilly Fall
months.

The Utah’s Best Chef Stage

Chef Bryan Woolley, host of Fresh from the Kitchen on KUTV, will cook up
some feel good Fall meals and share cooking tips any home cook can use in
the kitchen. Woolley will appear on Friday, October 7 at 7:00 p.m. and
Sunday, October 9 at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Attendees should be sure to catch the Recipe Throwdown on Saturday,
October 8 at 1:00 p.m. Chef Woolley will compete head-to-head against
Todd Collard of B98.7 in a “Utah’s Best Recipe” cooking throwdown.

Steve Hatch and Katie Masterson, the owners of Utah’s own Hatch Family
Chocolates and stars of TLC’s Little Chocolatiers, will share their chocolate
knowledge on Saturday, October 8 at 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Wendy Paul, author of 101 Gourmet Cupcakes, 101 Gourmet Cookies, and
101 Gourmet Cake Bites, will share her favorite recipes and dish up to the
audience some delicious treats. For all the dessert lovers out there, this
demonstration is not to miss. Paul will appear on Friday, October 7 at 4:00
p.m. and Saturday, October 8 at 2:30 p.m.

DIY Creating Demonstrations and Design House Challenge

Do-it-yourself creating has become a popular and cost-effective way to
decorate the home, organize the office and update an old wardrobe. Home
Show attendees are encouraged to join crafting demonstrations in the Craft &
Hobby Pavilion to learn a variety of useful projects anyone can easily
recreate. Also, new to the Home Show this year, teams of three designers
have the opportunity to put their design skills to the test in the DIYC Design
House Challenge. Team design rooms will be on display Friday, October 7
through Sunday, October 9.
