Utah Mayflower Society

Dr. Kirk Hagen, professor at Weber State University and a descendant of the Pilgrims, visits Studio 5 and encourages viewers to check their genealogy and be a member of the Utah Mayflower Society.

The Utah Mayflower Society is a nonprofit hereditary organization dedicated to preserving the legacy of the Mayflower ancestors through genealogical and historical research, commemorative activities and educational outreach. In the spirit of the brave souls who sailed the Mayflower to the shores of Plymouth in 1620, the society celebrates the ideals of democracy and religious freedom that brought the Pilgrims to this land. The Utah Mayflower Society, founded in 1948, has around 200 members. The Utah Mayflower Society is an official state society of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants headquartered in Plymouth, Massachusetts.

You are eligible to join the General Society of Mayflower Descendants if you can document your descent from one or more of the Mayflower passengers. There are 29 passengers who are known to have descendants. The names of these passengers, plus instructions for joining the society are found in the membership link listed below. There are other links containing information on Mayflower Society histories, the Mayflower Compact, resources for genealogical reserach, a list of officers in the state of Utah, announcements and other information for members and Mayflower-related links.

Whether you plan to join the society or you just want to learn more about the Mayflower voyage and our Pilgrim fathers, please take some time to visit these pages. You will find them of interest.
