Ways to Dress Up Your Jeans

There are several ways you can really amp up your denim to look dressed up and ready to party for the holidays.

Velvet Blazers

Nothing says winter like velvet—a fabric made exclusively for cold, crisp weather. A velvet tuxedo jacket or blazer dresses up your everyday pair of jeans in a snap. To avoid looking dated, make sure you choose a non-crinkly velvet in a dark color. Throw a blazer made from this luxurious fabric over a lacey, feminine tank, and accessorize it all with a complementary-colored scarf, and you’ll look ready for any party.

Accessorizing

Accessorizing is the best way to take a regular, everyday outfit from frumpy to fabulous. Take a simple piece, like a crisp button-down blouse, and have fun with the hundreds of different looks you can create with jewelry, belts, and shoes. Belt your white shirt at your true waist for an hourglass, put-together look, and choose a statement necklace to create a whole new outfit. Switch your sneakers for a pair of the sassiest high heels you can find in a lacquered red or leopard print, and you’ll look daring and stylish all at once. Just make sure your accessories reflect your personality. Go tribal with big, wooden, colorful beads, or keep it lady-like with a strand of pearls and gorgeous drop earrings. The possibilities are endless!

Sequins and Sparkles

When it comes to dressing up your jeans, the first thing that comes to mind for an evening party is sparkles! It’s easy to wear sequins, no matter the age. Wearing something sparkly with jeans makes for the perfect balance of looking festive without trying too hard. Get your sparkly fix by pairing a sequin tank with a simple, complementary cardigan, and belt the entire look with a metallic or sparkly skinny belt. Remember, keep the sequins to one item in the ensemble, and let it speak for itself. Keep the other items such as the cardi and belt simple for the perfect balance.

Faux Fur

The luxurious, expensive look of fur is back in a huge way—but this time, you don’t have to break the bank to get the look. To keep up with the environmentally-friendly Joneses, you can go with the economical and equally beautiful option of faux fur. Whether in a gorgeous vest, fur-lined collared-coat, or a full faux fur jacket (which you should be able to say ten times fast before you sport the look to make sure you’re ready!), this trend is a great way to dress up your jeans. Because fur is such a statement, keep whatever you wear underneath subdued and classy. Also, keep the jacket or vest you choose waist-length. Although fur has come back, we’ve left the Cruella Deville, ankle length fur coats in the past! The best thing about faux fur? You’ll never be chilly from the car to the door on those frigid, snowy nights!
