Marketing Director Spencer Pettit stops by Studio 5 to talk about the important improvements at one of the biggest water parks in the United States.
Going above and beyond the recommendation from the Health Department, the investment will include the installation of seven new ultraviolet purification systems that kill 99 percent of the organisms in the water. In addition, Seven Peaks will install soap dispensers in all shower stalls as well as enclosing all shower stalls, to allow for privacy when showering and to encourage all visitors to take thorough showers before entering the water.
The seven ultraviolet purification systems have been ordered and will be running by the start of this season. The systems Seven Peaks will be using are produced in Wisconsin by the leading UV manufacturer. The advanced design of these systems provides for even faster “turnover” of the water. Turnover is the time that it takes for 98% of the water in the pools to go through the filtration system, or in this case, the UV treatment times a day for the wave pool and adult pool; 4 times a day for the Lazy River, Boomerang, Vortex and Tykes Peaks slide.
Each time the water moves through the system it is exposed to ultraviolet light that neutralizes any bacteria and parasites instanly. The form of filtration has been found to be 99% effective in treating pools of water, not just for cryptosporidum, but for all illnesses such as giardia, and E. coli. These new systems will also allow Seven peaks to cut back the chlorine concentration in the wate. This is a good news for visitors who have sensivity to chlorine on their ski and eyes or odor irritation. This laso means that bathing suits will lasty longer.
Visitor safety is the Park’s number one priority. They feel it is their responsibility to ensure that they do everything possible to have the safest and most up-to-date equipment protecting the community when they enter the park.
