Baby Buzz: The Best Blankets

Check out these five fuzzy favorites, every new mom should have on hand!

Studio 5 “Baby Buzz” Contributor Lyndsi Frandsen reveals the best baby blankets.

Best Swaddling Blanket
It’s common knowledge that babies like to be swaddled up nice and tight – but for moms, this can pose a challenge. From “my baby doesn’t stay swaddled” to “I can’t find a blanket that is breathable and stretchy” – this is a common complain I hear from moms. Hands down, the first product that I tell new moms they MUST purchase is the Aden and Anais swaddling blanket. These blankets changed my “new mom” life! They are breathable, stretchy yet secure, and (bonus!) come in cute prints and patterns. These blankets are worth every penny and one of the main reasons that I believe helped my baby to sleep through the night early on.

Best “Sleeper” Blanket
There are different types of “sleeping bag” blankets on the market but none quite as cute and cuddly as the MyNochi Sleepers. These snuggly sleepers are pre-tied into a perfect little bundle and ready for you to slip your baby into. They are so plush and soft and are a lifesaver during bedtime. Your baby won’t be able to kick off the covers and will keep them snug as a bug, no toes peeking out of end! They are warm, portable, long lasting, and unique. Not only are they perfect for travel, their soft, neutral colors will compliment your nursery colors when you are settled in at home. These blankets give a whole new definition to the idea of “tucking in” your baby!

Best “Security” Blanket
Everybody can relate to having a security blanket. You know. The one that you took everywhere with you as a child, that was dragged through the mud, washed 1,000 times, and now can hardly be called a “blanket” but qualifies more as a “scrap.” I believe that every child needs a security blanket and the Utah based company Minky Couture takes the traditional security blanket to a whole different level! Everything you could possibly want in a blanket, you will find in these minky pieces of heaven. They come in multiple sizes, including an infant size, which is the perfect “tag along” size. They are a dream to keep clean; they wash up so nicely and don’t lose their soft minky feel. Your biggest problem is going to be trying to pick one because every print and pattern they sell is to-die-for cute!

Best Luxury Blanket
If you are looking for that special blanket and really want to spoil your little one (Grandma’s, I am talking to you!), Little Giraffe is where it’s at! This blanket comes at a slightly higher price point but is worth every penny if luxury is what you are seeking.

Best Homemade Blanket
When it comes to the best blankets, you really can’t beat homemade. But if you have ever tried sew a blanket, you know how frustrating and time consuming it can be. I received dozes upon dozens of homemade baby blankets when my little girl was born and, hands down, the blankets made out of high quality flannel were my favorite. They are soft and snuggly yet productive and useful. They are my “go-to” blankets and there is such a wide variety of flannel out there, you can customize it to cater to your little ones likes and interests! My secret source for cute, quality flannel is My Girlfriend’s Quilt Shoppe in Logan, Utah. It is high quality and their prints and bright colors simply cannot be beat!
