January Out & About Planner

We’re helping you fill up your January calendar with fun, family activities. Studio 5 Contributor, Veronica Johnson, has a list of her favorite winter activities in this month’s Studio 5 Out & About Planner.

Snowcat Sunset Safari at PowderMountain
This winter, head up to Powder Mountain for a ride you will never forget! Journey through the mountains at sunset on a HUGE snowcat. Participants meet at the Yurt, then board the massive snowcat and leave just before sunset. Travel through some of the 3000 acres of beautiful scenery and when you reach the top of the mountain you can see ALL of the Ogden Valley. On a clear night you can even see the lights of Park City. Tours are limited to 10 guests, but arrangements can be made for private parties and custom tours. Tours are subject to Ma’ Nature’s will, and availability.

Sleigh Rides at Hardware Ranch Hyrum Utah
Get up close and personal with Utah wildlife when you take a horse drawn sleigh ride into hundreds of elk at Hardware Ranch. These elk come on their own year after year. They are not held captive by any fencing. Experience the sights, sounds and yes, even the smells of nature in this close-up adventure.

Gorgoza Tubing Park, located west of Park City off Interstate 80 is a downhill blast for the whole family! The park features eight groomed tubing lanes serviced by four handle tows, making uphill climbs a relic of the past. Refreshments are available at one of two warming yurts, located at the base of the park. When the temperature dips down, way down, head up to Gorgoza because the colder the temperature, the faster the tubing!
The park is generally open daily mid December through the end of March. Groups and parties are welcome.

Sleepovers with Family at NHMU Jan 25 6:30pm-8:30am
Spend an unforgettable night with your family at the Natural History Museum of Utah! Participate in activities for the whole family – making dry ice bubbles, trying your hand at Fremont Indian tools and meeting live insects.
Then unroll your sleeping bag in the Life Gallery beneath a giant spiral of DNA, a case of sparkling butterflies, or the watchful eyes of an elk. Before you settle in for the night, listen to a cozy campfire story by flashlight. In the morning, you’ll enjoy a continental breakfast as you share the stories of the memories you’ve made at the Museum.
