Baklava

Baklava
3 ½ cups chopped walnuts
¼ cup sugar
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
1 cup butter melted ( no substitutes )
40 sheets phyllo dough

*In a small bowl combine walnuts, sugar, & cinnamon; set aside. Grease the bottom of a
13×9 inch pan with butter. Unroll phyllo sheets but keep covered with plastic wrap while
assembling.

*Place one sheet of phyllo into baking dish; brush with butter. Continue layering sheets and
brushing each with butter in increments of three. Every third sheet, sprinkle top of phyllo
with about 2 tbsp of nut and sugar mixture. Continue layering till all your sheets are gone,
ending with the dough on top

*Brush top with butter. Cut into 3 inch diamonds with a sharp knife. Bake @ 350 degrees
for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown.

*Meanwhile, in a saucepan combine the syrup ingredients; over med-high heat bring to a
boil. Reduce heat & simmer uncovered for 10 minutes. Pour over warm Baklava. Cool to
room temperature & ENJOY!!

½ cup water
¼ cup honey
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp vanilla extract
