How to Make a Bejeweled Ghost

SUPPLIES

  • Frame
  • Foam board/cardboard
  • Printed ghost
  • Scissors
  • Chalk
  • Gorilla glue or e-6000 (clear)
  • Assorted sizes of beads (white)
  • Small black beads
  • Assorted costume jewelry or vintage jewelry.  If you don’t have any on hand, Michelle purchased a few pieces from a local antique store and also purchased -in bulk- vintage inspired jewelry from Amazon.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Find a picture frame
  2. Remove the glass
  3. Cut a piece of foam board or cardboard to fit inside the frame opening
  4. Cover the foam board/cardboard with spray adhesive or hot glue or gorilla glue and attach a piece of velvet.  Be sure the velvet is taut.  Cut off any extra velvet that is hanging over the edges.
  5. Print off a ghost shape & with your scissors, cut off the area around your ghost.  Cut out the eyes as well.
  6. Lay your cut out ghost onto your velvet board.  Trace around the edges of the ghost with a piece of chalk.  Also, trace around the eye area of the ghost.
  7. Using the set of white beads from Hobby Lobby, start gluing the beads on top of the chalk outline of the ghost.  Use clear gorilla glue or e-6000.  Hot glue will not work for this project.  The beads will fall off.
  8. Next, take the small black beads and glue them to the eye area of the ghost.  Glue the beads around the outline of the eyes and completely fill-in the inside of the eye area with small black beads.
  9. Start filling in the inside of the ghost by gluing the costume jewelry with clear gorilla glue or e-6000.  You can spread the larger pieces out and glue them or glue them together tightly.  There is no right or wrong.  Use your creativity.
  10. Once the inside of the ghost is filled in with the larger pieces, you’ll need to start filling in the gaps or blank spaces.
  11. Take your assorted white beads from Hobby Lobby & fill in all of the gaps around the larger pieces.  You’ll do this by applying glue & dropping small beads on top of the glue.
  12. Once dry, take your finished ghost piece and insert it into the empty frame.  Secure with glue.
  13. Enjoy your fun ghost jewelry Halloween decor.
