BinkySpritz: A new kid-safe cleaning spray

Now, thanks to a local mom, there’s a quick and easy way to clean things your child handles, or even puts in his or her mouth. It’s portable, kid-safe and contains no alcohol or harmful chemicals.

Drue Didier is the Utah mom who created Binky Spritz and now is sharing it with others.

A Utah woman has the answer to an age-old question that many a parent has considered: What do you do when you’re out and about and your child drops their binky, or pacifier? Instead of throwing it away, desperately trying to wipe off the germs, or tucking it away to clean later, why not BinkySpritz it?

BinkySpritz, a “green” kid-safe cleaning spray, is the brainchild of Utah native Drue Didier. A mother of five, Didier looked long and hard for a chemical-free and convenient cleaning method she could use on her children’s pacifiers, bottles, cups and toys when they were dropped, got dirty or were “shared” with another child. When she couldn’t find a product she felt comfortable with, she decided to find a safe solution.

BinkySpritz is a locally produced, all-natural spray that effectively cleans items without harmful chemicals, alcohol, added sugar or artificial flavors, colors or preservatives. Its main ingredients are lemon juice, orange oil and Stevia, a natural sweetener. This blend of natural ingredients creates an acidic environment in which microbes can’t survive. Lemon juice and orange oil are both known to prohibit microbial growth, even better than alkaline products.

“This is really a first-of-its-kind product,” said Didier. “It’s the first food-grade kid-safe cleaning spray that tastes good and that you could literally drink.” She explains that you can spray BinkySpritz as generously as needed on the affected item and no rinsing is necessary.

With a number of Utah hospitals still reporting high numbers of children contracting the highly contagious RSV virus, and the seemingly inevitable colds and flu, Didier said BinkySpritz is yet another tool to help stop the spread of germs for infants and children.

BinkySpritz is sold in a convenient 2-ounce spray bottle, so it easily fits in a diaper bag, purse, backpack or car. While the product was initially intended for children, adults are finding that BinkySpritz works just as well cleaning their hands, water bottles, table tops at restaurants, and in many other daily situations.

BinkySpritz is an official Utah’s Own product and is currently available at all Dan’s grocery stores in Utah, Macey’s grocery stores (Ogden, Sandy, West Jordan, Orem, Pleasant Grove and Provo locations), Dick’s grocery store (Centerville and Bountiful), Jolley’s Drug, Oopsie Daisy and Kid to Kid stores (Bountiful, Layton, Holladay, Ogden and in Salt Lake City at 675 East and 2100 South).

“Children and the safety of children are extremely important to me. That’s why I donate a portion of BinkySpritz proceeds to children’s charities like Generations Humanitarian and One Heart Bulgaria. This is close to my heart because two of my children are adopted, and I am heavily involved in social work with children. So when you buy BinkySpritz, you can be assured that you’re not just benefiting your child — but children around the world,” said Didier.
