Caramel Rice Krispie Treats

Most of us probably have the rice krispie treat recipe memorized. But what about adding caramel?

Caramel Rice Krispie Treats
1 1/2 c. of Butter
2 16 oz bags of mini marshmallows
3/4 oz bag of Crispy treat Cereal
2 c. caramel

Melt butter in large pot. Add the marshmallows, consistently stirring so it does not burn. When the marshmallows are almost melted, take off the heat and gradually add the Crispy Cereal to the mixture. Should be nice and gooey.

Take a 9×13 cake pan lined with parchment paper and pour half of the crispy treat mixture. Press firmly to all sides and edges and make it an even surface.

Heat 2 c. of caramel by microwave or low oven setting. CHECK OFTEN to not burn caramel. Should not be a liquid but must stretch and easy to work with the hand. Apply a layer of the caramel on top of the crispy treat. Once finished add the rest of the crispy treat mixture. Drizzle chocolate (dark and milk chocolate, 3:1 ratio) and drizzle caramel on top. Let set.

Once set cut crispy treat into desired sizes or cut with fun cookie cutter shapes and place a popsicle stick inside.
Melt 1 cup of dark chocolate and 1/3 cup of milk chocolate in bowl.

Dip caramel crispy treat in chocolate and set on parchment paper.
