Comfort Food from the Homestead Resort

Take a fall retreat to the mountains for a dish of comfort food.

Chef David Deegan shares warm and hearty country fried steak from the menu at the Homestead Resort in Midway.
Country Fried Steak
· 4- 7 oz Cube steak
· 4 cups of seasoned flour
· 1 pint of buttermilk
· 1/2 gallon canola oil
Cream Gravy
· 1 pint of whole milk
· 3 scallions whole
· 1 fl oz cornstarch dilluted in as little water as possible Season with salt and pepper

1. Place the milk in a pot with the whole scallions.

2. Bring to a simmer and remove the scallions and discard. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve with Mashed potatoes and your preference of vegetable.
