A confident woman has ‘divine esteem.’ 3 habits that can build your confidence

Every confident woman has these three habits.

You know her, you admire her, and you might even wish you could be her: the confident woman. What makes her so confident? According to Studio 5 Contributor Shima Baughman, it’s not a new beauty routine or a carefully curated Instagram page, but rather the small daily habits that define who she is.

Shima shared three habits that shape a confident woman’s strong esteem and unshakable sense of worth.

The Importance of Confidence

Confidence is an essential trait for women. Shima explained that women often downplay their strength and knowledge due to societal expectations of humility. She said, “I know we tell you your whole life to be humble and have humility, but not right now. Right now, when you’re applying for this job or you’re doing this interview, you own this and show me.”

A Confident Woman has a Divine Esteem

One of the key sources of confidence is what Shima refers to as “divine esteem.” She believes that confidence should come from a higher power rather than from within. “I think a more natural source for me and what, as I’ve grown up, I’ve really relied on is what I call divine esteem,” she stated. This external source of esteem is constant and unchanging, providing a reliable foundation for confidence.

Instilling confidence in children is also crucial. Shima emphasized the importance of teaching children about unconditional love. When children understand who they are, it helps them develop a strong sense of self-worth that is not dependent on external validation.

A Confident Woman Evaluates Her Speech Patterns

A confident woman is mindful of her speech patterns. Shima noticed that women often end their statements with questions or doubts, which can undermine their confidence. She advised, “Instead of some of those, ‘What do you think?’ or ‘I don’t know,’ you can replace those filler words with ‘because.'” This shift in language helps assert confidence in both speaking and writing.

Understanding the value of silence is another habit of a confident woman. Shima emphasized the importance of listening and taking time to think before speaking. “Some of the most powerful, confident people will wait, listen to everyone, try to digest everything and then just try to speak,” she noted. This practice demonstrates confidence and thoughtfulness.

A Confident Woman Doesn’t get Distracted

A confident woman stays present in her interactions. Shima shared her experience of being distracted by self-conscious thoughts during important conversations. She advised focusing on the message and the person you are speaking with, rather than on how you are being perceived. “Try to be really present with that person. Focus on them and the message rather than on yourself,” she recommended.

Confidence is not an inherent trait but a skill that can be developed through daily habits. These habits are the foundation of a confident woman’s strong esteem and unshakable sense of worth.
