Dental Sealants Done Right

Dr. Adam Marberger is one of those dentists who wants to ensure that sealants are done properly, so he is offering to do them free.

Dental sealants are a thin plastic coating over the biting surfaces of children’s back teeth. They can be great in preventing cavities, but the procedure can be done incorrectly. A child’s tongue can swish around during the process contaminating the surface. If the sealant sticks, it can often be sealing bacteria underneath in the cracks of the teeth, and can cause greater decay. Or, if the sealant doesn’t stick, because of the improper application of the sealant, it can pop off. Not only does it not do any good, but it can actually do harm be providing a false sense of security.

Ask your dentist if he does the sealants on his own, or uses an assistant to make sure the tooth surface remains clean.

Dr. Adam Marberger is also offering free sealants during Free Sealant Saturday. It will take place on the morning of September 22. To schedule an appointment, call his office at 268.4451. He is located at 279 East 5900 South #202. You may leave a message.
