Emma’s musical journey is a testament to the power of passion and faith. Born into a family deeply rooted in music, she inherited the musical genes from both sides, with her mom’s side bringing piano and accordion, and her dad’s side adding acting into the mix.
Music was always a part of Emma’s life, but it wasn’t until later that she realized her true calling. She initially pursued vocal performance in college, following in her brother’s footsteps. However, life had different plans for her. A pivotal moment came when she felt a divine prompting to embark on a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but she hesitated, fearing the disruptions it might bring to her life.
Just a week later, Emma faced a medical issue that changed her course dramatically. She discovered she had hemorrhaged her right vocal cord and had a cyst on her left vocal cord. The doctors advised her to cease all singing and return home from college. It was a challenging situation, but Emma saw it as the perfect window to go on a mission. Her faith guided her, and she ended up in Sweden (being half Swedish herself), where her songwriting journey began. Her early compositions were in the Christian music genre, marking the start of something beautiful.
One of her recent singles, “Light,” is particularly moving. Its lyrics resonate with the spiritual but not necessarily religious people, a group Emma connected with during her mission in Sweden. The song beautifully intertwines the themes of spirituality and nature, celebrating the wonder of both. It says,
“Our hearts and the mountains they carry the light. For others a fountain of glory and might. Our hands and the valleys the hold us at night. Until dawn breaks and we take in heaven’s first light.”
It’s clear that Emma is not only a gifted musician but also a delightful soul who values connections, faith, and the beauty of life’s unexpected turns. Emma’s journey has led her to become a talented artist signed with Deseret Book, with plans to release 12 singles in the Christian music genre.
