We’ll be you’ve never thought to try these beauty tricks.

You might call this selection of ideas and suggestions far out, a little wacky, maybe just plain crazy.

Aquaphor Under the Eyes

Aquaphor is usually used for chapped lips and diaper rash, but Megan has a new use for it. A celebrity makeup artist named Scott Barnes, famous for being Jennifer Lopez’s makeup artist, uses Aquaphor under the eyes as a prep product before applying concealer. “It kind of floats over the skin and holds in moisture, but it’s also slightly tacky so concealer has something to stick to,” Megan explained.

“You’re going to do a few swipes under the eyes, let it sit for about two minutes to really grab on, and then put on concealer and blend it in,” Megan said. She recommends using a typical cream or liquid concealer to see the best results. This technique works even for mature skin with lots of texture under the eyes.

You might be skeptical, and Megan was too! “I eat my own words because I really thought this was not going to work… and I have been using it every day since I saw it,” she exclaimed.

Diaper Cream for the Face

The beauty tricks get a little wilder with the introduction of diaper cream for the face. Diaper cream, typically used for soothing red, inflamed bumps, can also be used to treat inflammation, redness, rosacea, and even some forms of acne on the face. The main ingredient, zinc, is anti-inflammatory and antibacterial, and the base of petroleum jelly holds in moisture and soothes the skin. “This is an amazing sunburn remedy,” Megan said. “It’s going to soothe the red sunburned face! It totally works.”

Since its main ingredient is zinc, you’re going to want to put it on at night. “It will be white on the face,” Megan said. “It’s not going to absorb, so you’re going to want to put it on at night and then sleep in it and wash it off in the morning.”

Megan also said she wouldn’t use it on cystic acne, but it works great for acne that is just surface bumps. “It actually will kill the bacteria there,” she advised.

Glycolic Acid for the Underarms

Glycolic acid is a common skincare ingredient found in toners, but it can be used on the underarms too. “What you’re going to do is you’re going to swipe it on a cotton round and then put it on the under arms at night,” Megan explained. It exfoliates and kills bacteria.

Killing the bacteria helps get rid of smell. “In the morning, when you put your deodorant on, it works even better,” Megan said. It also lightens the skin over time, making it especially useful for those who have hyperpigmentation from hair removal.

Megan also said not to apply right after a shave. “As long as it’s not after a shave, it doesn’t burn,” she said.

Castor Oil for Eyelashes and Eyebrows

Castor oil, traditionally used for medicinal purposes, can also be used in the beauty sphere. A quick swipe with a Q-tip on the brows before bed can result in stronger, healthier brows. “It’s going to help strengthen, darken, and help the growth cycle be longer,” Megan explained. It’s also the number one ingredient in all lash growth serums.

Fractionated Coconut Oil for Hair

Fractionated coconut oil is a liquid form of coconut oil. It is an amazing product for summer hair. It can be used as a finishing oil to smooth ends, to slick back hair. “My number one use for this is, keep it in your pool bag and douse your hair in it before you go swimming,” Megan said. “It will act as a shield for the chlorine and keep you from getting that chlorine damage in the long run.”

You can even put it on your skin before a big swim day. “If you have kids that get really dry and itchy from the pool, that can be a precursor there as well,” Megan said.
