Fall Fashion

Fall Fashion

It can be bittersweet to say goodbye to warm weather, but the “sweetness”
of Fall definitely comes in the form of fashion. Everyone knows that autumn
is the pinnacle of all fashion. That’s why Vogue’s September issue is the
biggest, most comprehensive one of the year! With Fall, there’s nothing
designers can’t do and absolutely nowhere they won’t go. Studio 5
Contributor ShaLyse Walker has the scoop on the five most fabulous trends
to look for this autumn.

Leather Skirts

You can’t think of Fall and pass over luxurious leather. This time, instead of
the traditional leather jacket, really go for it with a skirt. And no, if done
right, you won’t look distasteful. Make sure the skirt hits right at or right
above the knee. Choose an A-line of pencil skirt that lightly skims the
body. Pair it with tights and heels or a great pair of flat equestrian boots.
Wear it with a tie-neck blouse to really look on-trend! So chic!

Leather Skirt, Halogen, $228
Tie-neck Blouse, Pleione, $78
Both looks available at Nordstrom

Country Classic

No, we’re not talking Western here. We’re talking English countryside.
Think equestrians. Think preppy. Think plaids, boots, and pearls. Achieve
this sophisticated look with a tailored blazer, skinny jeans or chinos, a flat
riding boot, and a great scarf or pearls. Finish the look with a schoolboy
satchel. The definition of refined!

Navy blazer, $188, J Crew
Skinny Chinos, $69.50 J Crew

70’s Chic

Everything that’s old is new again! That’s right, the 70’s are back in a huge
way. Really go for it with a great pair of bell-bottoms and platform shoes!
Besides, there isn’t a more flattering look than a boot-cut or bell-bottom
jean. They balance out a feminine silhouette and really elongate the leg!
Wear your bell-bottoms with a blousy, girly top, and you’ll look flower child
fantastic.

Corduroy Bell Bottoms, J Brand $218
Tunic Top, Joie, $208

Capes

When it comes to outerwear this fall, it’s all about the cape. This also ties
into the country classic trend, as it sort of taps into a bygone era. Whether
it’s a literal cape that simply drapes over the shoulders, or a cape-like
jacket with flowy sleeves, both are hot, hot, hot right now. To balance out
the voluminous look of a cape, wear it with a straight leg, skinny pant, or a
pencil skirt.

Khaki Cape Jacket, $ 150, Banana Republic

Fur Jackets and Accessories

As the seasons go by, fur is either very in, or very out. This year, it’s most
definitely in. Wondering about that faux fur piece you’re eyeing? Go for it!
Have a vintage fur coat from your grandmother’s closet? More power to
you! For a subtler look, wear fur lined gloves, or an attachable fur collar
with your plain, long sleeved tee. It’s that lady-like, subtle touch of luxury
that will really stand out this fall.

Vintage Fur Collar, $15, Decades
Silk Top, $215
