Freeze Away Your Love Handles with CoolSculpting

Typically, love handles don’t disappear easily – not matter how fit you are.
But a local doctor is finding success through an FDA-approved treatment.

Dr. Steve Jepson with the Utah Dermatologic and Medical Procedures Clinic
explains how CoolSculpting can melt away the fat.

CoolSculpting is the 100% non-invasive way to get rid of your Love
Handles. Typically, love handles don’t disappear easily, no matter how fit
you are. CoolSculpting offers an easy, no-downtime solution. We’ve been
offering this FDA-cleared treatment at my office for one and a half years
now, and the Love Handles are one of our most successful treatment areas.

The Harvard-affiliated doctors who discovered CoolSculpting found that fat
cells are much more sensitive to cold than any other body tissue. They
developed the CoolSculpting procedure as a way to literally freeze away
your fat. After applying a gel pad to protect the skin, an applicator
designed specifically to fit each love handle is applied to the area. The
right amount of cold is applied through the skin and into the fat for an
hour – enough freezing to temporarily damage the fat cells and initiate a
natural cascade of fat destruction. Your body then slowly and naturally
eliminates the damaged fat cells over a 2-4 months period. The scientific
term for this process is called Crypolipolysis.

During the CoolSculpting procedure, each patient feels a tingly pins-and-
needle sensation for the first 10 minutes, and then nothing after the area
becomes numb. The procedure takes 2 hours (1 hour per side) during
which you can read, sleep, or watch TV. Afterwards, there may be a mild
aching sensation for a few days, but not enough discomfort to interfere
with normal activities. No time off work or time away from your daily
routine is needed. You can even exercise immediately after. It takes about
2-4 months for all the “damaged” fat to disappear and for each patient to
achieve their final result. The same amount of fat (about 25%) is removed
consistently with each treatment. Some patients achieve their desired
result after just one treatment, some patients need two treatments.

CoolSculpting is not a substitute for weight loss, a healthy diet, or exercise.
People who are within 10-15 lbs of their ideal body weight are the best
candidates for this procedure. CoolSculpting can also be used on areas of
the body other than love handles, including the lower abdomen, bra-line
fat, and inner thighs. Liposuction will remove more fat than CoolSculpting,
so while more invasive, it may be a better option for some. We can help
you decide if you are an appropriate CoolSculpting candidate. On
Thursday
Feb 16th, we are holding a CoolSculpting Open House at my office from
11am-2pm. We will be offering free consultations and all attendees will
receive discounts on the procedure. We encourage everyone to RSVP by
calling my office at 801-281-0022 and scheduling a specific time, though
walk-ins are certainly welcome.
