Hi Studio 5 friends! This is McKell from Salt Lake Moms and Utah Valley Moms. We normally do posts about fun family activities that are going on in our community. But with everything going on right now, we decided to make a list of things you can do at home or in your car and still keep your social distancing game strong.

At Home Science Experiment: Smoking Bubbles
Materials Needed
- Vase or Mason Jar
- Water
- Dish soap
- Tongs or Gloves for the Dry Ice
How to make smoking bubbles
Start by filling the mason jar or vase about 2/3 full of warm water.
Add a squirt of dish soap to the water.
Using the tongs, have an adult carefully lift a piece of dry ice using only the tongs and drop it into the water and soap mixture. NOTE: Do not touch the dry ice or you can burn yourself! Watch as the dry ice bubbles in the water and soap bubbles start to form.
Reach in slowly without touching the dry ice and collect some bubbles. Pop them and see what happens. When the bubbles pop, smoke from the dry ice floats out of the bubbles creating a cool effect!
When the bubbles stop forming add another piece of dry ice with the tongs and watch the reaction happen all over again! My son loved this science experiment. Enjoy!
