Gather your crowd for some big group games! 6 activities kids and adults will love

We’re willing to bet you haven’t tried these big group games before.

If you’ve got a family reunion or extended family gathering coming up, we’ve got some really creative ways to bring everyone together. No matter how big your group is… bring on the fun, the laughter, and most importantly, the memories.

Maria Eckersley shared some new big group games to try with your family.

Deathball

This game is played in a large circle with a big ball and a dunking sponge. Everyone plays against the person in the middle. If the group passes the ball around the circle seven times without the person in the middle intercepting it, the group drenches them with their sponges.

Sock Shift Challenge

This is a quick game with lots of splash potential. A group lays in a circle on their backs with their socked feet in the air. They balance a big bowl of water on their feet together. One person pulls off one sock and then puts their foot back up. The next person takes off a sock and the game continues until all the socks are off – or the water topples and splashes everyone, whichever comes first.

Duck, Duck, Boulder

The group sits in two circles, one smaller circle inside and one larger circle on the outside. The two circles face each other. A giant yoga ball is placed in the channel between the two circles. The moderator taps a player near the ball on the shoulder. That player has to jump up and run clockwise through the channel. The other players try to push the giant ball through the channel to catch up to the runner. If the player can return to their spot before the ball hits them, they’re safe. If not, they get a strike (a mark on their hand). The last person without a strike wins.

Table Surfing

Divide the group into two teams. Give each team a lightweight folding table. Create a starting line and an ending line. The lightest person kneels on top of the table, holding onto the table legs. The other players on their team lay on the ground side-by-side and roll to move the table forward. The first team to get across the finish line wins.

Human Tic Tac Toe

Nine chairs are set up in a tic tac toe grid. The group is divided into two teams (x’s and o’s). Each person gets a number. When your number is called, you and the person with that number from the other team race to the grid to claim a spot. If you get to a spot first, you use your arms to hold up an X or an O. The team that gets three spots in a row wins.

Tipping Trains

A big group breaks into many pairs of two. The players stand facing each other. They both put up their hands and try to push each other back (or fake out the other person so they step forward). The first person to move their feet loses. The loser now stands behind the person who defeated them, forming a train. The winner finds a new competitor. They compete. The loser of that match (and anyone in their train) now stands behind the new winner. Play continues until there are two long trains and one epic final battle.
