She’s an Emmy award winning journalist who recently joined the KSL news family as traffic anchor and reporter, and we got to know her better in studio!
Katija Stjepovic is an Emmy Award Winning journalist who joined KSL in September of 2022. She looks forward to being a crucial part of why so many wake up with the KSL morning team: providing up to date information, traffic routes, and road conditions.
Meet Katija Stjepovic
Before joining KSL, Katija was a reporter and anchor in Boise Idaho at the NBC Affiliate, where she solo anchored the Sunday evening show. In 2021, Katija won an Emmy Award for her coverage of the deadly Boise Towne Square Mall shooting. Katija has a passion for feature stories that shed light on the community but also bring people together. Katija is no stranger to Salt Lake City and the grid system. In 2018, she lived in the Beehive state while working in the news industry.
Although Katija was involved in choir and musical theatre throughout high school, she knew journalism was always her spot. Not long after learning how to read, Katija would read the newspaper to her mom in a “news voice” daily. She went on to pursue that passion by a degree of broadcast journalism from the University of Colorado. While she typically is a beach girl, with a hometown in Orange County California, she traded palms for pines years ago and never looked back. Katija loves storytelling, nature, snowboarding, yoga, creating friendships and living every day to its fullest. Katija looks forward to not only giving people the information they need to get to their destination in the morning but giving people a smile and a fresh start to their day. She hopes to be peoples “good news of the day.”
