By popular demand, Ghost of the Bayou is staying through the end of October. From May 5 through Halloween, a rare white alligator from New Orleans is haunting Utah’s Hogle Zoo. This alligator isn’t albino; he’s leucistic and purely white in color with dazzling blue eyes.

Eastern mythology says these creatures are symbols of extremely good luck. Legend has it that anyone gazing into the blue eyes of the rare white alligator will be blessed with good luck for the coming year and prosperity will surely follow. There are only ten of these white gators in the entire world, so don’t miss your chance to see this amazing wonder of nature.

The rare white alligator exhibit at Utah’s Hogle Zoo is free with membership or paid zoo admission. For more information about the Ghost of the Bayou, and all the events and activities at Hogle Zoo, visit the website at www.hoglezoo.org.

Monkey’s howl, elephants trumpet, and guests laugh. It’s never a dull evening at the American Express Zoo Rendezvous. With this year’s theme of penguins, you don’t need top hats or tails, but come ready for adventure and enjoy colorful wildlife, exciting cuisine and more at the Zoo. Rendezvous is on Thursday, September 6 from 6 PM to 11:00 PM at Hogle Zoo.

More than 20 of Utah’s finest restaurants, caterers and breweries will be serving up delicious food at the “wildest party” in town. All proceeds from the event are dedicated to animal care and habitats. Tickets cost $150 and you can graze to your hearts content. There will be a silent auction that features one-of-a-kind Zoo items and a live band so you can dance the night away. No guests under 21.

Dedicated to nurturing respect and appreciation for the natural world, Utah’s Hogle Zoo is a leader in environmental conservation and education. And, as one of the ten most visited attractions in Utah, more than 700,000 guests experience the wonders of the animal kingdom each year. It costs more than $125,000 each year to feed the more than 900 animals representing 216 species.
