How to Wear Fall’s Best Boots

Kick off Fall style with a pair of boots! Boots of all sizes and styles are
taking the trends by storm.

Studio 5 contributor Elissa Urban did the research on how to wear the
season’s accessory!

Riding boot

Polo prep, royalty style, classic country club; however you want to style it –
riding boots are in! A flat heel and a tall shaft create a polished and rich
look to any outfit. Pair them with a nice skirt, skinny jeans, or you can even
wear them with riding pants to get the whole royal idea across. They are a
walk-around-town comfortable and a pop-into-Chanel-on-a-whim chic.
Consider your calves! Make sure to pick a pair that’s fitted around your leg
but not so tight that your skin is pinching. If you wear a dress or a skirt, the
hemline should stop at the top of your boots.

Bootie style

These are on the trend’s leading edge! A short boot is a great alternative to
a regular pump or heel. It can be very edgy and funky for one night, casual
for the next day, and great for work in-between. Pair them with a pencil
skirt and a feminine blouse, or with colored skinny jeans and a flow-y top.
A great nude color is best so as to not cut off your ankles! Be aware of
proportions. Because they are so small, ankle books can look awkward with
fuller silhouettes (full skirt or boyfriend jeans), they’re a great option for
showcasing your legs.

Over the Knee boot

This is an exciting one! You can definitely wear your boots over your knees!
Some boots are convertible and can be folded down below the knee, or
flipped up. Just avoid the Pretty Women look. If you wear your over-the-
knee boots with a skirt make sure your skirt hem hits just one or two
inches above the top of the boot. This can be easily styled with jeans or
leggings and a great sweater or blouse; keep the rest of the outfit simple.

Lace-up

A flat or a heeled lace-up boot is a great way to complement fall’s
menswear styles. Lace-ups can be an ankle height or to the knee. Either
looks great with a dark colored skinny jean. Edgy, menswear-inspired lace-
up boots are softened with a pair of dressy lace-trimmed socks. Try them
with a blazer and trousers or a maxi skirt.
