Look Younger with New Facial Procedure

Eliminate the signs of aging with one trip to the doctor!

Facial Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Scott Thompson, tells us about a new procedure that’s cheaper than a facelift, with a faster recovery time.

Q: How is the MACSlift different from other facial procedures?

In recent years patients are seeking, and health care professionals are promising the quick and easy solutions for facial aging that offer great results without the downtime. Unfortunately, most of these procedures promise far more than they deliver. The MACSlift is a facelift technique that was developed by a European plastic surgeon several years ago and is intended to provide the results of a traditional facelift wherein the deep tissues, not just the skin are lifted without the general anesthesia, longer recovery time, and higher cost. This procedure has proven itself as a safe, effective and reliable technique and is becoming increasingly popular among plastic surgeons.

Q: How do we know if we would be a good candidate for the MACSlift?

Of course each patient is different, but the ideal candidate is someone in good health with relatively early signs of facial and neck aging including jowls and neck laxity. Patients with very heavy or full necks or advanced wrinkling may be better for a traditional facelift. However, as I said, each patient is different and needs to be evaluated individually.

Q: What kinds of responses have you gotten from patients?

I’ve been performing the MACS lift in the office setting under local anesthesia for about three years, and the feedback has been universally positive. Patients love the fact that they can avoid general anesthetic, they recover quickly, the procedure is more affordable, and the results are real and long-lasting. One additional bonus is that because we’re often catching the aging in the early stages, the change may not be obvious to friends and family. They’re more likely to think that the patient has lost weight or changed their hair style.

Q: What distinguishes you as a facial plastic surgeon?

Because the residency and fellowship training of a facial plastic surgeon focuses exclusively on the face, head, and neck, that is our specialty. We don’t perform traditional body plastic surgery, and as a result, we become quite specialized on both cosmetic and reconstructive procedures from the neck up.

Q: And just in case people are hesitant or have concerns about the procedure, you have an innovative way to put us at ease?

To give the public and idea of what goes on during a MACSlift procedure, we’ll be posting live instagram photos with one of our patients on June 28th. You’ll get to learn more about her story and follow her throughout the process to gain a better understanding of how it all works behind the scenes. You just need to follow UtahFacialPlastics on Instagram and/or Facebook to view the process.
