1 lb. 93% fat free ground beef or ground turkey
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 clove garlic, minced or pressed, or 1 tsp. garlic powder – optional
1/3 C. minced onion – optional
1/4 tsp. salt
Dash fresh ground black pepper
4 fat free cheese slices
4 low fat or fat free hamburger buns or fat free French or sourdough rolls
8 tomato slices
Thinly sliced onion
Dill pickle slices – optional
Mustard: brown, deli, or regular Catsup
Low fat of fat free mayonnaise or salad dressing
1. Preheat grill according to type.
2. Using a fork, mix meat together with Worcestershire sauce, garlic, onion,
salt and pepper. Divide meat into four equal pieces and form into 3/4 inch
thick patties.
3. Grill burgers 2 to 3 inches from heat source for 6-8 minutes on each side
turning once. Add cheese slices to burgers 1-2 minutes maximum before removing
from grill. Don’t allow cheese to overcook.
4. Top toasted or warmed buns with burgers and serve with sliced onion,
tomatoes, pickles, lettuce, and low fat condiments.
