Studio 5 Food Producer Alex Daynes recently taught us how to make a caramel popcorn we were dying over. Most of the ingredients you probably have on hand, but there were a couple things Alex mentioned that are definitely worth tracking down. Lucky for you, we did the hard work! The first game changer is mushroom popcorn.

“I like to use mushroom popcorn which is a little bigger kernel, which is going to hold up the caramel a little bit better,” Alex said.

Now you’ve got the proper kernels. If you have an air popper, that’s a fine way to get your popcorn popped, but Alex recommends something even simpler.

“To pop the mushroom popcorn, I have found that the very best method is this silly silicone bowl!”

“You put a fourth of a cup of the kernels right in the bottom and loosely drop the lid down, throw this in your microwave, press the popcorn button, and you’re going to have perfectly cooked popcorn,” Alex explained.

This just might be the easiest way to make fresh popcorn, plus, if you’re just whipping up a regular batch for movie night, the popper doubles as a bowl!

“That sounds like a $15 add to cart that I will not regret,” Brooke chimed in.
