Make-A-Wish Creates with Dreams at Parade of Homes

. Parade goers can visit these imaginative rooms in eleven of the 30 homes in the Parade. Each room corresponds to a special wish given to eleven children in the Make-A-Wish program.

Studio 5 welcomes 7-year-old Coleman and his mother Emily, whose wish for a pirates’ treasure came true in the form of a “Pirates of the Caribbean”-themed Disney Cruise in November 2006. Coleman, a true pirate at heart, was able to spend five full days feeling like a true pirate, including a theme dinner where he received a pirate bandana and eye patch and he got to visit Castaway Key. There, he was also able to see The Flying Dutchman, the pirate ship used in Pirates of the Caribbean 2 movie and even meet Captain Jack Sparrow!

Perhaps the best part of the Make-A-Wish concept is that it allows children and their families to get away from the everyday stress of their illnesses and hospitals and be just like an ordinary kid. And it helped Coleman find the strength and courage to fight his illness and realize that wishes really do come true!

Cyprus Homes co-owner and builder Brandon Stevens created a magical pirates’ cove with all the trimmings in his Draper Parade of Homes entry and revealed the completed room to the delight of Coleman and his family and friends July 31.
