Studio 5 Party, Holiday and Ideas Contributor Alisa Bangerter shares her favorite locations and resources for inexpensive arts & crafts.
Standard Restaurant Supply
Standard Restaurant Supply is a wholesale warehouse but open to public. This is a great place to find packaging for food gifts and kitchen type items for parties and entertaining. I really like the cake boards, cake boxes and cupcake containers – like you would find at a bakery. If a restaurant or retail has packaging – it most likely can be found here. Prices are very reasonable and even more discounted by the case. Most items can be purchased individually at the store location.

Provo Craft Outlet
Provo Craft Outlet is a clearing house for Roberts Crafts and they sell overstock, unsold seasonal, scrapbook, jewelry making supplies, home décor, craft supplies, etc. for at least 75% off the retail. Great deals here and you never know what you will find as things are constantly being added. A great place to find real bargains. Open Tuesday – Saturday 10-6.

Home Fabrics and Rugs
You will find it hard to buy home décor fabric anywhere else after shopping here. Home Fabrics and Rugs sells home décor fabric, other fabrics, fleece, trims, drapes, pillow forms, etc. plus exclusive rugs. The home décor fabric is sold at amazing prices. The back clearance corner of the store offers even lower prices. I bought some beautiful fabric for $1.99 a yard – elsewhere that would sell for much, much more. The manager said this is where many high end boutique type places purchase fabric for their displays and handmade items. I think this would be a great place to find fabric not only for home décor but to decorate with for parties, weddings, entertaining, etc. They also offer free classes on a variety of subjects related to the use of fabric.

O’Scrap scrapbook company (www.oscrap.com) has an outlet warehouse store where they sell a variety of their items at great prices. The style of their product is cutesy and fun. A big draw to the outlet is their exclusive designed boxes that come in various shapes and sizes perfect for small gifts or treats – and a great deal for holiday items. Another great deal here are the packages of 50 sheets of printed 8 ½” x 11″ paper for $1.50 per package. Cardstock is also deeply discounted. Each week they have a “special of the week” and if you sign up on their e-mail list you will be notified of what the special is. A little hard to find – look for the sign on the fence and go around back and enter into a white door.
Note: There is a 20% off coupon for your entire purchase at the O’Scrap Outlet – good until January 31, 2010 in the free Country Register papers found at most craft supply stores and boutique type stores.

Paper Mart Online Store
Paper Mart is an online site that sells a variety of packaging supplies and ribbon. It has the cheapest spooled ribbon prices ever! It really is amazing – and they have a very large variety of ribbon colors available. Some of my favorite deals are the sheer ribbons (under fabric ribbon links). They also have a large variety of packaging and trims and all sorts of other items great for parties, holidays, weddings, etc.
