Anna Andrews of Total Class Creative previews new felt and slotted-wood craft products featured at the Scrapbook USA Expo.
JACK-O-LANTERN BASKET
Materials:
1. 8″ Orange felt basket TCC™
2. Jack-o-lantern felt stickers TCC™
3. Black floss thread
4. Needle
5. Ribbon
6. Scissors
Instructions:
1. Blanket stitch (see below) the edge of handle and top inside of felt basket
2. Attach jack-o-lantern felt stickers and ribbon to felt basket
Blanket Stitch Instructions:
1. Insert your needle from the inside of the piece so it comes out the front.
2. Insert the needle to the left of where the thread is coming out of the front piece.
3. Pull the thread through most of the way, then put your needle through the loop from the back to the front. (Pull the first stitch so it is a little loose. You will need the loose floss to complete the last stitch.)
4. You will make your stitches following step 2 and 3 above.
5. Complete the edging by putting your needle under the vertical bar of the first stitch.
6. Pull tight.
7. On the inside, put your needle through the initial knot.
8. Make your final knot.
9. You’re done!
FRIENDLY GHOST CENTERPIECE
Materials:
1. 12 in ghost centerpiece TCC™
2. Scrapbook paper
3. Xyron™ machine
4. X acto knife
5. Scissors
6. Sanding disks or sticks
7. Tacky glue
8. Ribbon
9. Stickers (optional)
Instructions:
1. Run scrapbook paper through the xyron™ machine with the patterned side faced up.
2. Placed xyroned sheets of scrapbook paper onto the slotted pieces
3. Trim around the slotted shapes as close as you can to the edge. (For the smaller areas use the x acto knife to trim off excess paper.)
4. Sand around all edges.
5. Slot pieces together. To hold permanently add tacky glue to slots before slotting together (optional).
6. Embellish with ribbon and stickers.
GLITTER GHOST ORNAMENT
Option 1: Paper
Materials:
1. Ghost ornament kit TCC™
2. Scrapbook paper
3. Scissors/x acto knife
4. Sanding disks or sticks
Instructions:
1. Remove adhesive backing from slotted ornament.
2. Place scrapbook paper onto adhesive side of ornament.
3. Trim around the slotted shapes as close as you can to the edge. (For the smaller areas use the x acto knife to trim off excess paper.)
4. Sand around all edges.
5. Thread ribbon through hole on ornament.
6. Slot wood pieces together.
Option 2: Glitter
Materials:
1. Ghost ornament kit TCC™
Instructions:
1. Remove adhesive backing from slotted ornament.
2. Sprinkle glitter onto adhesive sides and brush off excess.
3. Thread ribbon through hole on ornament.
4. Slot wood pieces together.
