Open High School

It’s the first day of school for many high school students. But as this school year begins, you may be realizing again that traditional brick-and-mortar high schools just don’t work for your student.

DeLaina Tonks, Director of Open High School shares details about a new kind of school experience.

Whether students are accelerated, travel frequently, pursuing a career, like to learn at their own pace or, for any other reason, traditional high school just doesn’t work for them.

Open High School of Utah is a solution.

Open High School of Utah is an online, tuition-free public charter school available to every high school age student who is a Utah resident.

Open High School is also accredited by Northwestern Accreditation Council, just like any other public school. It was also recently named Best of State and ranked as the top-scoring online high school in the state.

As an online school, students can complete their school work during the hours of the day that work best for them — when they want, where they want.

What sets Open High School apart.

Students keep in very close contact with teachers and receive individual teacher instruction until students fully understand concepts.

Parents frequently say how impressed they are with the genuine interest and concern teachers have for their students. Teachers give students confidence and help them to succeed in school.

Among the academic opportunities Open High School provides, students have plenty of social interaction. Monthly service activities, an internal social network and even prom allow students to socialize and form friendships.

Open High School students can also participate in programs like orchestra and seminary as well as sports at their local high school.

How to enroll.

Students can now enroll for the 2012/2013 school year for grades 9 through 12. School begins on August 27.
