Pack a suitcase more efficiently for a smoother trip!
If you take time up front to thoughtfully pack a suitcase, your vacation will simply be less stressful.
Stylist Reachel Bagley knows clothes, she knows travel, and she has six packing strategies that are just plain smart, plus the products to help us execute.
Outfits, Not Clothes
The first step in packing smart is to think in terms of outfits, not individual clothing items. Instead of grabbing all your favorite items and throwing them into your suitcase, consider what outfits you’ll need for your trip. This approach helps you make sure that you have a complete ensemble for each day, including underwear and socks.
Packing Cubes are Your New Best Friend
Packing cubes are a game-changer. They let you see what’s inside and keep your outfits organized by function, such as day looks, exercise gear, and beachwear. This way, you only need to open one section at a time, rather than rifling through your entire suitcase.
Don’t Forget the Laundry Bag
A laundry bag is essential for your suitcase. It keeps your dirty clothes separate from your clean ones, making it less stressful when you return home and need to do laundry. You can use anything from a specially designed laundry bag to an old pillowcase.
Shoes: Less is More
Shoes can be a tricky part of packing. They take up a lot of space, and it’s easy to overpack. The key is to think about the functions your shoes need to serve on your trip. You might need a sandal for the beach, a sneaker for exploring, and something dressy. Most of the time, two to three pairs of shoes should be plenty.
Toiletries: Decant, Decant, Decant
Toiletries can take up a surprising amount of space in your suitcase. Decanting your products into smaller containers can save space and prevent potential disasters if a product leaks.
Keep Jewelry Simple and Safe
While it doesn’t take up much space or weight, it’s important to keep jewelry safe and organized. A simple jewelry organizer can prevent your necklaces from tangling and keep your rings and other pieces secure.
