What’s the most versatile party piece? A strand of string lights brighten up any get together

Don’t underestimate the impact a strand of string lights brings to a party.

By Lauren Tippetts

Studio 5 Creative Contributor Kelly Lonnecker recently showed us how to create incredible balloon foam core letters. She made her own show stopping piece that spelled out “Let’s Party!” In addition to filling the “party” letters with balloons, she filled “let’s” with lights!

Kelly built her smaller scale letters out of foam core, and to attach the lights, used a craft knife to cut a star shape in the back of the foam. Then, all she had to do was push the lights through and voila! A DIY piece that can be used party after party.

If crafting isn’t your thing, a strand of string lights is always good to have on hand. Throw them out for a fancy dinner tablescape, up the ambiance at your next bridal or baby shower, or pull them out for late summer barbecues.

They’re even perfect for bringing the fun to everyday. Next time your kids want to build a blanket fort, bust out the string lights for some extra magic.
