You Can Play With, and Sneak a Bite of, This Peppermint Playdough

Don’t eat the art supplies, the preschool teacher always said! This peppermint playdough not only smells good, it tastes good, too. And, it’s safe to sample.

Emme, Boston, Lucy, and Penny visit the studio to help show how to make it.

 

Winter Wonderland with Homemade Snow

(Ages 3 and up)

SUPPLIES

  • Medium size tray or cookie sheet
  • Play people, house, little trees, etc.
  • Airtight container
  • 2 cups baking soda
  • 1/2 cup white hair conditioner

INSTRUCTIONS

Place soda in a medium sized bowl, add conditioner and stir until light and fluffy.

After playtime, hands and surfaces should be washed.

Snow can be stored in an airtight container.

Edible Peppermint & Vanilla Cheesecake Playdough

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup of cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup instant cheesecake pudding
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2-3 drops peppermint extract
  • 2-3 drops red food coloring

METHOD

  1. In a medium sized bowl, mix together cornstarch and pudding.
  2. In a measuring cup mix together water, extract and food coloring. Using an electric mixer or spoon, mix until well blended. Place on a cornstarch dusted mat and knead in additional cornstarch until smooth and not sticky.

For vanilla dough

  1. Same recipe, omit food coloring, and extract.
  2. In a medium sized bowl, mix together cornstarch and pudding.
  3. Using an electric mixer or spoon, add water and mix until well blended. Place on a cornstarch dusted mat and knead in additional cornstarch until smooth and not sticky.
