Power in You: Dating and Violence

Growing up isn’t easy. Power in You is a facilitator of hope. It’s put together with human experiences that emotionally touch the heart, mind and soul. Aside from the ups and downs of adolescence, many teens find themselves standing toe to toe with life’s most unexpected and difficult trials. One of them is teen dating and violence.

Even a bad relationship can start out being good. It can be fun and exciting and even romantic at first, but that could start to change very quickly.

Suddenly he wants to know where you are all the time, or she wants you to only spend time with her … not with your friends or family. Maybe he’s pushing you to be more intimate with him, or maybe she doesn’t want you to be involved in sports anymore. If the person you’re dating gets angry alot, yells and screams, pushes you around, hits you, won’t let you break up, or calls you bad names, then you’re in an abuse relationship.

What’s happening to you is not your fault, but unless you get help and get out, it will get worse. It can be very hard to break up with someone who says “I love you”, but who is mean to you. You don’t have to do it alone. Get help! You have the Power in You to have a health relationship where you are respected. The more you know about dating dangers and abuse, then more you can do to prevent it and help others.
