Twisted treats to celebrate National Pretzel Day!
Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chip & Pretzel Squares
3/4 cup butter, at room temperature
1 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
2 large eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
1-2 cups chocolate chunks or chips
1 1/2 cups mini pretzel twists, coarsely broken (divided)
1/4 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup chocolate chips
Preheat the oven to 350°F and butter a 9×13″ pan.
In a large bowl, beat the butter with both sugars at until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs
and vanilla. Add the flour, baking soda and salt and stir until almost combined; add the
chocolate chips and 1 cup of the pretzel pieces and stir just until blended.
Spread the batter evenly in the pan and bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden. In a small
bowl or saucepan, melt the peanut butter and chocolate chips in the microwave or over low
heat, stirring until smooth. Sprinkle the bars with the remaining crushed pretzel pieces and
drizzle with the peanut butter-chocolate mixture. Let cool until set, then cut into squares
or bars.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Pretzel Bites-
1 cup creamy peanut butter
2 tablespoons softened butter
2/3 cup powdered sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
Pretzels (about 72 mini pretzels)
1 bag semi-sweet chocolate chips melted- or chocolate candy coating wafers melted
1. Line a baking sheet with wax paper and set aside.
2. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat peanut
butter and butter until combined. Scrape down bowl, add sugars and beat until combined.
You should be able to roll the mixture into balls without sticking to your hands. If needed,
add more powdered sugar until you reach a consistency that is easy to roll.
3. Roll the mixture into small balls, about 1 teaspoon of mixture for each ball,
and place on prepared baking sheet. Sandwich the balls between two pretzels and place in
the freezer for 30 minutes to setup. Melt chocolate in microwave at 30 second intervals or
over a double broiler. Dip each pretzel sandwich halfway and place on a waxed cookie
sheet till chocolate hardens. Store in refrigerator.

Square pretzels (waffle like)
Rolo candy
Pecan Halves
On a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, place an unwrapped rolo candy over each
pretzel and bake @ 200 degrees for 4 minutes. No longer! Remove from oven and gently
place a pecan half over each rolo. Let set up in fridge.
